Rolling hills, circling hawks, rooted oaks – come explore the magic and mystery of EarthRise.
Ancient Land, Modern Magic
In 2000, the Institute of Noetic Sciences established EarthRise, an extraordinary campus that serves as a scientific and spiritual hub for educators, philosophers, coaches, artists, scientists, and spiritual masters. Nestled in the hills, this forested oasis is recognized worldwide as a fitting backdrop for those who wish to immerse themselves in the study and practice of personal development and transformation.
EarthRise is a powerful and beautiful venue. The values of health, wellbeing and intentionality are woven beautifully into all elements of the venue. I would highly recommend it to any group looking to host transformative work.Matthew Abrams, Bridge Collective
The History of EarthRise Campus
At once serene and majestic, the landscape beckons you to connect outdoors via hiking trails, a permaculture garden, and a legacy labyrinth. Scattered across the campus are open-air meeting sites, ideal for group discussions, lectures, playing music, and meditating.
Rich archaeological evidence reveals that the powerful Miwok tribe once called these hills home. For generations, they lived in peace with each other and in harmony with the land. The sacred energy of their long stewardship is palpable as you gaze across soaring vistas, traverse winding paths, and find respite in still, quiet corners. Abundant wildlife, including deer, hawks, and other birds and mammals, call this place home as they’ve done for generations. Natural cathedrals, formed by the canopies of oaks, buckeyes, and bay trees, imbue this ancient coastal area with reverence for its past.
Now this sacred land is home to the Institute of Noetic Sciences and our EarthRise campus, humble heirs of such a legacy. By hosting events, retreats, and gatherings year-round, we have welcomed thousands of people from across the globe to experience the site’s profound beauty and tranquility. They gather together for events in science, spirituality, art, social activism, business, health, and the environment, continuing this place’s tradition of fostering connection—with one’s self, with community, and with nature.
Perfect place for workshops and retreats. Beautiful views, excellent food and great people to work with. Everyone in my groups always appreciates meeting at EarthRise.

What’s In a Name
On Dr. Edgar Mitchell’s return from the Apollo 14 mission, he gazed out the window at the beauty of Earth floating freely in the vastness of space. At that moment, he was engulfed by a profound sense of universal connectedness.
On the return trip home, gazing through 240,000 miles of space toward the stars and the planet from which I had come, I suddenly experienced the universe as intelligent, loving, harmonious. My view of our planet was a glimpse of divinity. We went to the Moon as technicians; we returned as humanitarians. Dr. Edgar Mitchell
In honor of our founder’s historic journey and transformative epiphany, we named our retreat center EarthRise — a daily reminder of the life-changing moment when he — and then through photography, all of humanity — witnessed the majesty of the blue planet emerging from the darkness.
